Don't be fooled like I was in thinking the are cheap and won't work. I installed my own sprinkler system and didn't see these in Home Depot until later. They look like nothing but believe me when I say they are a must if you live in an area where the ground freezes. They ho on the end of the sprinkler line and automatically drain the line when there is no pressure. If you don't have these (like I didn't last year in New England) you need to blow out the lines and remove the sprinkler heads so they they don't freeze and crack in the cold. I'll still blow out the lines this year but won't need to remove the heads.

Replaced a 30 year old auto drain with this. I'm hoping for the same service life with this one. Works great in draining the irrigation line, so I don't have to worry about lines freezing up when it turns cold, or having to blow out my system.

Had a couple that leaked but seller quickly sent replacements. Worked for me.

replaced the broken check valves at the end of the lines and they worked perfect

Item used in garden. Great product

Used it to cap off the end of my line, buried it down a few inches to make it the lowest point in the system, so far no issues.

They work great so we do not have to pay for the system to be blown out in the fall.

South or North, if you have lines you can turn off and don't want residual water to freeze, put one of these in the ground. Turn off supply line, open spigot and water drains out - no freeze ups.
